THE REVOLUTIONISTS by Lauren Gunderson

Theatre in the Rough celebrates its 35th season with The Revolutionists, Lauren Gunderson’s sharp, fast, unapologetically feminist dark comedy. Set during the chaos of the French Revolution, the play follows four women who refuse to be erased from history. A playwright, an assassin, a Caribbean revolutionary, and a queen collide in a bold, imagined meeting filled with wit and conviction. Together they challenge art, activism, violence, and who gets to speak. The show reminds us that the fight for voice, agency, and justice didn’t end — it just changed outfits.
